Why Clacton?

The idea behind the Clacton Festival was a simple one: we wanted to create an event at which a boatload of interesting and fun things could happen, in a warm, welcoming and unpretentious atmosphere. We wanted to celebrate original work. And we wanted to pack the festival with a diversity of creative expression. In short, we wanted to create precisely the arts festival that we most wanted to go to. So we did. And then we went to it.

We wanted to engage creatively with the local community, and to encourage acts and audience members from the Clacton area. In 2005, and then again in 2006, we achieved this, with a rich blend of local talent and interested onlookers. The festival may only have been two days long, but it proved to be a rich and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
